Add Clear Page Context to a PDF
Header & Footer PDF adds simple text to the top or bottom of PDF pages. It is useful for reports, meeting packets, training handouts, client drafts, internal notes, document bundles and files that should carry a label, date, page reference or short instruction on every page.
Common Header and Footer Text
Headers often carry a project name, department, document title or review label. Footers are commonly used for page numbers, dates, version notes or confidentiality labels. Keep the text short so it supports the document instead of fighting with the page content.
Page Number Placeholders
You can use {page} for the current page, {total} for the total page count and {date} for the current date. For example, Page {page} of {total} creates a footer that changes on each page. This is useful when printed pages may be separated or when a packet benefits from an easy reference during review.
Apply to the Right Pages
Not every page calls for the same treatment. You can apply the header or footer to all pages, odd pages, even pages or a custom page range. That helps when the cover page should stay clean, appendices carry labels or only a section of the document uses page references.
Placement and Review
Before sending the file, open the output and check that the text does not overlap existing content. Documents with very tight margins, scanned pages or dense tables may work better with a smaller font size or a shorter footer. The goal is a useful label that feels part of the document, not an extra layer that makes the page harder to read.
