PDF to CSV turns text-based PDF content into a lightweight CSV file for spreadsheets, scripts, databases and import tools. It is useful for reports, statements, price lists, invoices, inventory sheets and other PDFs where rows of text should become rows of data.

Best Source Files

This converter works best when the PDF already contains selectable text. If you can highlight words in the PDF reader, there is real text to extract. If the document is a scan or a phone photo saved as a PDF, run OCR first so the page has a text layer. Clear rows, consistent spacing and simple table layouts usually produce cleaner CSV files.

How PDF Tables Behave

A PDF is not a spreadsheet. What looks like a table on the page may be stored as many separate text fragments positioned on a canvas. PDFem reads the page layout and uses spacing to rebuild rows and columns. The result is a practical starting point, not a finished spreadsheet that skips review.

CSV or Excel

Choose CSV when you want a plain file for imports, data cleanup, scripts or spreadsheet apps. CSV does not keep colors, merged cells, formulas, fonts or visual styling. That is often useful because the file stays small and easy to process. If you want an XLSX workbook instead, use PDF to Excel.

After Download

Open the CSV in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or your data tool and scan the columns before relying on the values. Wrapped text, multi-line table cells, footnotes and mixed page sections can still call for cleanup. For financial, legal or operational data, compare the CSV against the source PDF before using it in a final report.
