Fix Sideways or Upside Down PDF Pages

Rotate PDF corrects pages that were scanned, photographed or exported in the wrong direction. Upload a PDF, choose the rotation angle and apply it to all pages or only the pages that need fixing.

Whole File or Selected Pages

Some documents need the same rotation on every page. Others only have one sideways page in the middle of a longer file. Use the page selection option when only certain pages are wrong, such as page 3 and page 7 in a scanned contract.

Common Rotation Problems

Office scanners often mix portrait and landscape pages. Mobile scans can turn sideways depending on how the phone was held. Signed pages may be upside down after a document feeder scan. Rotate PDF is meant for those everyday fixes, especially when the file is otherwise ready to send.

Choosing the Angle

Use 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise for sideways pages. Use 180 degrees for pages that are upside down. If you are not sure, run a quick test on the page range that needs work and open the output before sharing.

What Stays the Same

Rotation changes the page direction, not the document content. The original PDF is not overwritten. Text, images and form elements stay on the same pages. If the page also has large borders or extra scanner background, use Crop PDF after rotating.

After Rotating

Open the result and scan through the pages. If the file is part of a packet, you can merge it with other PDFs afterward. If it is too large for upload, compress it after rotation. Temporary files stay on the server for 10 minutes or so before automatic deletion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rotate only specific pages in a PDF?

Yes. You can rotate all pages or choose a custom page range. Use custom pages when only a few pages are sideways, such as pages 2 and 5 in a scanned packet. The pages you do not select keep their current direction.

Is the rotation saved permanently in the output PDF?

Yes, the downloaded PDF is saved with the new page rotation. You should still open the output in a PDF reader to confirm the pages face the right way before sending it. The original uploaded file is not edited.

Which rotation angle should I choose?

Use 90 degrees clockwise or 90 degrees counterclockwise for sideways pages. Use 180 degrees when a page is upside down. If you are not sure, rotate a small page range first and check the output before processing the full document.

Will rotating a PDF reduce quality?

Rotation should not reduce quality because the page content is not being converted into a lower quality image. PDFem changes the page direction in the output PDF. Text, images and layout should stay on the same pages.

Why are only some scanned pages sideways?

This often happens when a scanner or phone camera detects page direction differently from one page to the next. Mixed portrait and landscape pages can also confuse automatic rotation. Use the custom page option to fix only the pages that are wrong.

Can I rotate a PDF on mobile?

Yes. Open the Rotate PDF page in your mobile browser, upload the PDF and choose the rotation settings. For large files, a desktop connection may feel faster, but the workflow itself works in the browser.
